About CotpWeb
This page is designed to familiarize you with the Consortium of Ophthalmic Training Programs (COTP) and the COTP Member institutions, located in the United States and Canada, which conduct post-secondary educational programs for Ophthalmic Medical Assistants, Ophthalmic Medical Technicians, and Ophthalmic Medical Technologists. Ophthalmic medical personnel play a vital role in the allied health profession; they are members of the eye health care team. Post-secondary educational programs for ophthalmic medical personnel prepare individuals to work under the supervision of an ophthalmologist. An ophthalmologist is a physician (doctor of medicine [MD] or doctor of osteopathy [DO]) who specialized in the medical and surgical care of the eyes and visual system and in the prevention of eye disease and injury. Incorporated in 1993, COTP is a non-profit organization.
